There are five species of the endangered national treasure and icon - the Kiwi. The North Island Brown kiwi, Great Spotted kiwi, Little Spotted kiwi, Rowi and Tokoeka. These cute, flightless, long-beaked birds are nocturnal and can be found in forests, scrublands and grasslands.
