Originally built as a retirement cottage, the name stuck and has since been restored to host guests in this idyllic vineyard setting. Wander through the vines and reach the beach within ten minutes on foot. A relaxed setting, just the two of you. Be treated to a complimentary bottle of wine and breakfast with fresh locally grown produce and free-range eggs.
The love of New Zealand, passion for wine and the natural environment brought the owners to this vineyard accommodation.
Karin and Achim were stranded in an airport in the south of Chile when they spotted the advertisement for this property. It was love at first sight and after a tour, they decided to take the plunge. The vineyard was established on an old apple orchard in 1998 and released its first wine in 2003.
Located at the tip of the South Island, there is plenty to discover nearby. The small, bustling village of Mapua is within a ten-minute drive. You can find a mix of cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops. Watch the blue waters of the Waimea Estuary swirl in and out, and the locals jumping off the wharf.
