Travel Specialist
As a Travel Specialist at TravelEssence, Australia and New Zealand will be part of your everyday work. You’ll get to know what each customer is looking for, share your own first-hand experience and turn their ideas into a tailor-made holiday they’ll never forget. With your destination knowledge and personal approach, you’ll build journeys around how they want to travel and what they want to experience.

About the role
As TravelEssence continues to grow in the UK, we’re looking for another Travel Specialist to join the team. You’ll be speaking to people who are already thinking seriously about a holiday to Australia or New Zealand, finding out what they really want from their time away and helping turn those ideas into a trip that feels completely their own.
From the first conversation to the final booking, you’ll take ownership of the customer relationship. You’ll ask the right questions, listen carefully and use your first-hand knowledge to recommend routes, places to stay, and experiences that suit the travellers.
As part of our continued growth in the UK, we are looking for an ambitious and motivated Travel Specialist to join our team.
This is a sales role, but not about selling an off-the-shelf package. It’s about building trust, giving thoughtful advice, and creating a holiday the customer feels excited and confident about booking.
What your day-to-day looks like
No two customers (or holidays) will be quite the same. You'll:
Speak with new enquiries and understand their interests, priorities, travel style, and budget.
Arrange and conduct detailed customer appointments, both online and face-to-face.
Use your destination and product knowledge to create tailor-made itineraries, recommending the right routes, accommodation, and experiences for each customer.
Present proposals clearly and explain the thinking behind your recommendations.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships, follow up proactively, and convert enquiries into bookings.
Give inspiring presentations to prospective customers and represent TravelEssence at customer events.
Manage your own enquiries and opportunities while keeping our CRM up to date.
Continue building your knowledge of Australia, New Zealand, our product portfolio, and the wider travel market.
Work closely with colleagues in the UK and across our international teams.
Some customer appointments, presentations, and events take place in the evenings or at weekends, so flexibility is an important part of the role.

You know Down Under from experience
First-hand knowledge matters to us. You should have travelled around, or lived in, Australia and/or New Zealand and be able to talk naturally and enthusiastically about your own experiences.
Just as importantly, you’ll know that the best holiday for a customer isn’t necessarily the trip you would choose yourself. You’ll be curious about what matters to them, listen carefully, and use your knowledge to recommend what will suit them best.
You’ll also enjoy the commercial side of the role. Following up an opportunity, building a strong relationship, and turning a great conversation into a booking should feel rewarding rather than uncomfortable.
What we're looking for
You'll need:
Strong experience in customer-facing, relationship-building, or sales roles.
Excellent communication and listening skills, with confidence speaking to customers by phone, online, face-to-face, and in group presentations.
Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage several customers and itineraries at once.
A proactive, independent approach, with confidence following up on opportunities and taking ownership of results.
The ability to understand individual customer needs and turn them into personalised recommendations.
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
Genuine enthusiasm for Australia and/or New Zealand, backed by first-hand travel or lived experience.
Flexibility to travel to our London and/or Manchester offices when needed for customer appointments and meetings.
Availability for some evening and occasional weekend appointments and events.
The legal right to work in the UK.

It would be great if you also have
Travel industry experience is welcome, but isn't essential. We’re just as interested in people from other sales and customer-facing backgrounds who bring strong communication skills, commercial awareness and genuine destination knowledge.
Experience in any of the following would be useful:
A sales-focused role.
Travel, hospitality, or another high-quality customer-facing environment.
Managing a sales pipeline or using a CRM system.
Selling higher-value products or services where trust and consultation are an important part of the decision.
Tailor-made, self-drive, or experiential travel.
Extensive personal travel throughout Australia and/or New Zealand.
'It’s a great company to work for, and we're growing quickly. You get plenty of freedom to work independently, whether that’s from home or meeting customers at the office.'
— Michiel, Head of Sales
What you'll get from us
We ask our Travel Specialists to bring plenty of energy, independence, and destination knowledge to the role. In return, you’ll have the freedom to create genuinely individual holidays and develop your expertise as part of a growing international travel company.
We offer:
Above industry-standard base remuneration.
An achievable bonus scheme.
A remote-based role with a high degree of independence and flexibility.
Access to our London and Manchester offices, with travel expenses covered.
Regular opportunities for familiarisation travel to Australia and/or New Zealand.
Extensive destination and product training.
Real ownership of your customer relationships.
The freedom to create genuinely tailor-made journeys rather than sell predetermined packages.
A friendly, international working environment.
Opportunities to develop your career within a growing specialist travel company.

How and where you'll work
This is a full-time, remote-based role in the UK, giving you plenty of flexibility over where you work.
Our London and Manchester offices are available whenever you’d like to use them, and there is no requirement to spend a set number of days in an office each week.
Meeting customers face-to-face is still an important part of the role, so you’ll need to be willing and able to travel to London and/or Manchester for appointments and occasional meetings when needed. Travel expenses for these business requirements will be covered by TravelEssence.
Our customers may sometimes prefer to meet or speak outside normal working hours, and presentations and events can take place in the evenings or at weekends. You’ll therefore need to be comfortable organising your time around customer demand rather than following a strict 9-to-5 routine.
Sound like you?
If you know Australia or New Zealand from first-hand experience, enjoy getting to know people and like the idea of turning great conversations into unforgettable holidays, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, please send the following to jobs@travelessence.nl:
Your current CV.
A short cover letter or introduction explaining why you'd be a good fit for the role.
A little about your own travel or lived experience in Australia and/or New Zealand.
